Conor McGregor is going to box Floyd Mayweather on August 26. He has about as much chance of winning as he does playing basketball against the Golden State Warriors, by himself. However, he is going to enter the ring with supreme confidence.

As he told a GQ reporter earlier this year, McGregor subscribes to the Law of Attraction or like attracts like. The New Thought philosophy holds that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts a person brings positive or negative experiences into their life. His sister gave him a book on it when he was a boy.

Visualize it. Speak it out loud. With confidence. Work for it. Watch it happen, explained McGregor. It sounds like California malarkey. However, this is the first time a camera was ever pointed at McGregor’s face to ask him about fighting:

McGregor was 19 years old, and 2-1 as a fighter. After this video, he won one more, and then didn’t fight for two years. He returned with a win, which got him a shot at in Cage Warriors, but he lost his debut there. What the young kid with bad skin predicts above is more unlikely than beating Mayweather, and he did it.

I’d always play with the traffic, McGregor explained to GQ. I’d picture just clear roads. ‘There’s gonna be a clear road.’ I’d play with it as small as that.

So the kid who used to sit in the back of his parent’s car and imagine the traffic jam would disappear is now going to be half of the biggest fight in combat sports history.

And as UFC president Dana White explained on ESPN’s SportsCenter Wednesday night, McGregor is positive he will win.

He is absolutely 100 percent positive that he wins this fight, said White, as transcribed by Marc Raimondi for MMA Fighting. I stopped doubting Conor McGregor a long time ago.

Negotiations went smooth. Floyd is surrounded by some smart people and we got this thing done. The impossible deal is now done.

Many have speculated that with 50-100 million dollars in his pocket, McGregor will never fight in the Octagon again. After the MayGregor was official, McGregor tweeted this:

However, White said McGregor says he wants to fight in the UFC this year.

That’s one of the million reasons why people love Conor McGregor, said White.

White also answered critics from the boxing and MMA world who have said the match is bad for the sport, whichever sport. White said promoters have an obligation to put on the fights that fans want to see.

This is a fight that the fans demanded, said White. The fans wanted to see this fight. It’s the most talked about fight on the planet right now. And it will be the biggest fight ever in the history of two people punching each other. They can be as disgusted as they want. It’s what people wanted to see.

I don’t think anybody is bummed out about this deal. The negotiations with Floyd were great. Everything went smooth with Conor. It went a lot easier than I thought it would go and everybody is walking away from this thing happy.

And in the very first head to head contest between the pair, the fight announcement, McGregor demolished Mayweather, and started the trash talk.

Check the retweets and likes. McGregor is ahead by about 300%. So he’s off to a good start.
