Yesterday Conor McGregor melted the MMA internet when a melee erupted during the press conference. After arriving thirty minutes late, McGregor didn’t talk long before Diaz up and walked away, but not without hurling a water bottle towards the stage.
That’s all it took to send McGregor in a rampage of tossing bottles and full cans of Monster Energy drink at Diaz and his crew, who all taunted him from the stands and threw whatever they could back at him.
Today UFC President Dana White appeared on TMZ and discussed the incident and noted that McGregor and Diaz could both face fines, suspensions, and even a law suit:
“They’re both getting punished,” White says.
“What everybody’s gotta understand is .. we’re overseen by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. I guarantee both of these guys will get massive fines. And there’s probably gonna be a hearing too after the fight.”
White says both guys could be hit with suspensions and community service — “It’s gonna be ugly.”
“And the word is that in this thing, somebody was injured. So, there’s gonna be a lawsuit … who knows how it’s gonna play out.”
