White Looking For A Fight for CM Punk
“I just started a new show. The pilot is on YouTube. It’s called, ‘Dana White: Looking For a Fight.’ I’m actually out looking for opponents for CM Punk right now.”
One year ago, CM Punk announced he was leaving pro wrestling, and had signed with the UFC. Pretty much everyone wanted to fight him. But he had no scheduled fight and no opponent. He didn’t even have a gym.
“He wanted to fight here,” explained White. “He wanted to give it a shot so we gave him an opportunity. It’s not like Brock Lesnar. We’re not going to throw the kitchen sink at him. Lesnar had a wrestling background. He’s going to fight a guy who is 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 — something like that.”
“I think what he wants to do is take his time, start training, get with the right camp. It could be six or seven months.”
Punk has been training seriously at Roufusport, and in a recent appearance on TSN’s Michael Landsberg, UFC president Dana White narrowed the field of potential opponents (even WMMA fighters were clamoring for the fight).

“It’s the first time this guy has ever trained to fight. The guy has never wrestled. He ‘professional wrestled’ but he’s never wrestled. He will fight next year. 100 percent.”
