UFC president Dana White believes that the Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor headlined UFC 189 will sell between 1,000,000 and 1,200,000 pay-per-view buys. And that they may not make any money.

“Over a million PPV buys and we’ll probably break even,” said White to Marc Raimondi for MMAFighting.com. “That’s how much money we’re spending. We’re spending lot of money.”

Saturday’s UFC 187 will feature the debut of a series of commercials created by Digital Domain, the James Cameron founded visual arts company that won seven Academy Awards to date.

“It’s the most expensive commercial we’ve ever shot,” said White. “But without a doubt the most bad ass commercial we’ve ever done.”

There will also be a 30-minute television special called Bad Blood: Aldo vs. McGregor, ten Embedded episodes, and more. White contrasted the UFC production values and efforts with those of MayPac.

“A typical boxing event where you rip all the money out of it,” said White. “Not only did they not have any value in the production during the show, the fight sucked. It’s typical boxing. It’s what they always do. They’re never worried about the future of the sport.”

“What we want this to be is everything that Mayweather-Pacquiao was not.”
