President Barack Obama makes available to the people of the United States a process to get issues they care deeply about onto his desk.

Any citizen can start a petition for anything. If you are a weird creep, you can demand PVZ shave her head. At one point the fighter said she would shave her head in support of cancer patients if she ever made it into the UFC. Shortly after she thought the better of it.

I’ve had a lot of negativity from the head-shaving idea, so maybe I’ll rethink it and try to think of something else I can do to give back,” she posted. “Maybe I’ll donate money because it’s an amazing cause.

There is a process to ensure that creep thoughts stay off the president’s desk. You have to get 100,000 people to agree with you within 30 days.

If you get that, it goes to the President’s desk.

There was a petition protesting the unjust suspension of Nick Diaz for five years by the Nevada Athletic Commission, following a problematic test for the demon weed marijuana. It got over 115,000 signatures.

This is not trivial, like PVZ’s hair whining. Diaz’s livelihood is at stake. And as the UFC’s own Drug Czar explains, the NAC got it wrong. Jeff Novitzky knows more about PED and drug testing than does the NAC. In fact, he may know more about the subject that anyone ever. And he says bluntly (and respectfully) that they got it wrong.

Now the White House has responded.

Thank you for your petition regarding the Nevada Athletic Commission’s suspension of Nick Diaz.

The federal government plays no role in the disciplinary actions taken by state athletic commissions, so we are not in a position to address the specific request raised in your petition. State authorities — in this case, the Nevada Athletic Commission — will generally be the best source for information about those kinds of issues.

However, we appreciate that so many of you banded together to make your voices heard through this platform.

If there are federal policy issues you care about, using this tool can help you and people all across the country communicate directly with a team in the White House focused on responding to petitions that get enough support. For example, in the past few years, we’ve weighed in on issues ranging from education regulations to wildlife trafficking, from criminal justice reform to vaccinations, and from electronic communication and net neutrality to international relations.

Luckily, Diaz’s legal team and the NAC are negotiating a more rational response to what happened.

This is Diaz’s reaction immediately after a meeting with the NAC.
