After UFC 193, UFC President Dana White was adamant that Holly Holm’s first title defense would be a rematch with Ronda Rousey, but he revealed today that is not the case:

Although Dana White previously said he should lose his promoters license if an immediately rematch between Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey is not booked, it appears Holm will indeed face another opponent before a potential second showdown with Rowdy.

Holly Holm will fight before she fights Ronda, the UFC President announced on tonight’s edition of FOX Sports 1’s UFC Tonight.

A rematch between Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC), No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA women’s bantamweight rankings, and No. 2-ranked Rousey (12-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) has been a main discussion point since The Preacher’s Daughter won the 135-pound title in dramatic fashion at UFC 193 in November.
