UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and welterweight G.O.A.T. Georges St-Pierre really want to fight each other. The fight was announced on March 1, and last month St-Pierre said that due to lingering eye issues, he would be ready to fight after October.

So UFC president Dana White canceled the fight, and announced that as Bisping’s knee had not fully recovered, Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker would be fighting for the Interim title. White further said that GSP would be fighting for the welterweight belt. And, presumably, Bisping will fight the interim champ.

However, GSP says he wants to still fight Bisping, title or no. And Bisping says he still expects to fight St-Pierre. And during a recent appearance on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, White said, “No.”

It’s not happening,” said White, as transcribed by Yahoo Sports. “Bisping is a little banged up right now. [Romero and Whittaker] are going to fight for the interim championship and then Bisping will fight the winner.

Georges St-Pierre will come back who knows when – November, December, or next year – and he’ll fight whoever the champion is at 170. I’m not very confident in when GSP will return.

I don’t wait for anybody. The world moves on. When [St-Pierre] comes back, he’ll come back, and he’ll fight whoever is the champion at 170.
