Oklahoma City police officer and UFC featherweight Matt Grice was off duty when he was hit from behind at a red light in Pottawatomie County, OK on September 8. The 32-year-old underwent brain surgery that night at Oklahoma University Presbyterian Hospital. Grice began displaying limb movement and responding to verbal cues a few weeks later. Now UFC president Dana White offered some encouraging news, via MMAFighting.
“His wife sent me a text telling me that he’s getting better,”said White. “First they were talking about real bad things could happen. Then it was like, he might never walk again and he might never work again. Now the doctors are very positive.”
“The whole tone has changed. He’s got a lot of work ahead of him, a lot of hard work ahead of him, but it’s looking like he might be able to pull through and get his life back.”
