White: ‘F@$%ing awesome’ McGregor wants Khabib in Russia
Dana White: “You know what Conor told me? He said, ‘I want Khabib in Russia. Isn’t he f@$%ing awesome?”
UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor boxes Floyd Mayweather on August 26; it is believed ‘Notorious’ will make around $75 million. Many fans, teammates, and even UFC president Dana White have speculated that with that kind of money, he might never fight in the Octagon again.
However, during a recent interview at UFC headquarters, White said McGregor has some grand plans. The fight between top division contender Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson has been cursed with delays, but White says it will still happen.
Those guys (have) got to fight, said White. That fight still needs to happen. So this thing could time out perfectly.
While White wouldn’t commit to a date for the 805 vs. Dagestan, he thinks the winner of it would be available to fight McGregor. And McGregor thinks the winner will be ‘The Eagle’.
You know what Conor told me? He said, ‘I want Khabib in Russia,’ said White to Mike Bohn and John Morgan for MMAjunkie on Wednesday. Isn’t he f***ing awesome? He’s like, ‘I want Khabib, in Russia.’ He’s awesome. Conor McGregor is a f***ing unicorn. There’s nothing like him. He’s working on boxing Floyd Mayweather and then he’s talking about fighting Khabib in Russia right after.
Those are the kind of things that make that kid a f***ing superstar. I’ve got guys telling me, ‘I don’t want to blah blah bal – I don’t want to fight this guy, and I don’t want to do this.’ [Conor says], ‘I want Floyd Mayweather then I want f***ing Khabib in Russia.’ How do you not love him? How do you not love Conor McGregor? Amazing.
White is right.
The UFC has never held and event in Russia, but for this, they would.
