Chris Weidman was originally scheduled to rematch Luke Rockhold at UFC 199, but was forced to withdraw due to a neck injury. Rockhold instead fought Bisping and lost by first round knockout.

Yesterday Weidman underwent surgery on his neck and seems all has gone well:

The former UFC middleweight champion underwent successful neck surgery Wednesday in New York. The surgery was performed by Dr. K. Daniel Riew. Weidman returned home later that night.

According to Weidman, he’ll begin physical therapy and strength training on Thursday and resume “hard MMA sparring” in six weeks.
