In June it was announced that the number one middleweight UFC contender has been determined, and that Luke Rockhold was to fight champion Chris Weidman. The fight was tentatively scheduled for Dec. 5 at Madison Square Garden. But New York failed to do the right thing once again, and now Weidman says the fight may be off completely.

“I don’t know when I’m fighting next,” said Weidman to Brad Popkin for MMAmania.com. “There are rumors that he [Rockhold] might be fighting for a number one contendership against Jacare next.”

Weidman has stayed busy getting Serra-Longo teammates Eddie Gordon and Gian Villante ready for fights. “The All American” reports he has sparred six times in the last month

“Wonderboy [Stephen Thompson] was in town,” said Weidman. “He’s got a fight coming up.”

“I’ll be fighting before the end of the year. I would say against Rockhold or Jacare. I hope so.”

Weidman had a recent encounter with Jacare that amused his social network.
