Saturday night Chris Weidman broke Anderson Silva’s leg with an agressive leg check. Then at the post fight press conference UFC president Dana White confirmed that Weidman’s next opponent would be Vitor Belfort, who enjoyed an unprecedented year.
Belfort had three fights in 2013, knocking out Dan Henderson, Luke Rockhold, and Michael Bisping in a combined 10:26, all by head kicks.
Weidman appeared on the FOX Sports 1 post-fight show, and said he wanted to fight to take place as soon as possible.
I think he’s a stud, said Weidman, as transcribed by Fighters.com. He’s a big, strong guy, very experienced.
(But compared to Silva) they are two completely different guys… One guys is rangy, technical, very slick. Belfort is more of a powerhouse guy who will come in and bring the heat.
He will try to overwhelm me with power and speed.
I am ready to get in there right away. I might have a meniscus tear, so I will get that (checked out) and maybe have two-or-three weeks off and go from there.
So what do you think UG? How soon does Weidman fight Belfort? And who takes it?
