I am really excited to be blogging for WEC.tv. With this blog, I hope to shed a little light on how the WEC works and some of the day-to-day activities that I tackle. I think you’ll find this weekly blog to be informative, and at times, funny. From my adventures of putting on big fights to the day-to-day grind of running a blossoming organization, I think you will get some good insight on how the cards you see on television come together.

For the past two weeks, I’ve spent a good deal of time doing post-fight media for Brown vs. Faber II. As most of you know, that card proved to be one of our most successful ever, and that’s a testament to our fighters, as well as our team at the WEC. I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am to see the WEC doing so well. Sitting cageside at ARCO to see that all unfold…it was unreal. And I have to admit that I got the same chills watching it again on VERSUS.

I’ve done a lot of radio lately and it just shows how the WEC is blowing up. From Sacramento to Cleveland to Baltimore, I’ve been on stations coast to coast and the feedback has been great. The fans are so important to us and they’ve responded well to our focus on the lighter weight classes. They want more WEC talk on the radio, they ask for WEC coverage in their newspapers and online sites. That means a lot.

Last Friday, I got some great feedback from listeners of the MMA Junkie radio show. I was in studio at Mandalay Bay for a solid two hours and the fans called in with great questions. I always find it a little funny that fans apologize for asking me what they consider to be tough questions. Honestly, I appreciate those tough questions. Fans should never apologize for asking questions that they find themselves pondering. To me, those are the questions that matter. Fans want to know our pay-per-view plans. I give them honest responses. People ask about whether we would consider putting on women’s fights or clashes between guys like Faber and Torres. I tell them my thoughts. It’s pretty simple. The fans drive the WEC machine and we will never lose sight of that.
