After his Saturday UFC 133 win over Akiyama, an elated Vitor Belfort made an extraordinary prediction for the popularity of the UFC in Brazil.
I feel as though I’ve completed a mission. People confuse dreams with desires. When I was a teenager I dreamed of being the best in the world. I left my family and training partners behind to move to Vegas. I’m here, and I stabilized my career. I’m training really hard in Las Vegas. I know what I want, I’m paying for it, I’m making sacrifices.”
The message I have for Brazil is, ‘Get ready! The UFC is coming and these days its like the World Cup in Brazil: the people love it. It’s the second time the event goes there and television made way. It may seem like madness what I’m going to say, but in three years the UFC will surpass soccer.
