In his first post-UFC fight, Drew McFedries (8-6) meets Strikeforce veteran and fellow middleweight Joey Villasenor (27-7) as part of Shark Fights 13’s impressive lineup.
The bout, which was revealed on Friday’s new episode of “Inside MMA” on HDNet, joins co-headliners Keith Jardine (15-8-1) vs. Trevor Prangley (22-6-1) and Houston Alexander (10-6) vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (9-6).
Shark Fights 13 takes place Sept. 11 at the Amarillo Civic Center in Amarillo, Texas.
During his nine-fight and four-year stint with the UFC, McFedries posted a respectable 4-5 record against some very tough opponents. The hard-hitting Iowan posted wins over the likes of Alessio Sakara and Xavier Foupa-Pokam while losses came to contenders such as Martin Kampmann, Patrick Cote and Thales Leites.
All of McFedries’ UFC wins came via first-round knockout (three in 68 seconds or less). However, a recent 1-3 skid resulted in his UFC release.
