‘Vegas’ Dave wins $240k on Holm
“If I bet boxing or MMA, I’d probably bet the underdog because it just takes one lucky punch to knock the person out, so why not take the underdog?”

‘Vegas” Dave Oancea runs a consulting site for bettors. You may have heard about him when he won $2,500,000 on the Royals winning the World Series.
Last week he told MMAjunkie Radio that he was putting $10,000 down on Holly Holm vs. Ronda Rousey.
I’ll put $10,000 on that for fun, said Oancea. I’ll put $10,000 on her every time against her and just keep doubling up, because eventually she’s going to lose – that’s my philosophy. It just takes one lucky punch. I’ll put $10,000 on her if they let me do it. I’ve got balls.
Three years ago, I had the Ravens to win the Super Bowl – $8,000 to win $200,000. The following year, I had the Red Sox – $30,000 to win $340,000. And then I had the Rangers, when they were in last place, to win the (AL) West (this year), and I put $80,000 to win $580,000.
So I had $580,000 two weeks ago, and that was my biggest payout, and then I had the Royals at $2.5 million two weeks later. I’m pretty disappointed that they won’t take my bets anymore. They just cut me off.
I stick to what I’m good at. If I bet boxing or MMA, I’d probably bet the underdog because it just takes one lucky punch to knock the person out, so why not take the underdog? I’ve got it down to football and baseball. I want to make people money.
It turns out that he did not put down $10,000 on Holm, he put down $20,000.
It wasn’t a punch that put Rousey’s lights out, it was a kick. And it wasn’t luck, it was strategy. But that doesn’t matter.
‘Vegas’ Dave made $240,000 last night. Wonder what Holm’s official purse was? She also of course won two performance bonuses for another $100,000. Whatever she made, it included 12 pounds of championship belt that she is taking back to her hometown of Albuquerque.
Here’s what’s waiting for her.
