VanZant wants to avenge ‘fluke’ loss to Torres

Paige VanZant: “That was a fluke in my fight game. I went in there not ready. I wasn’t prepared for that fight. Of course, I took a loss and I’ll take that loss and wear it.”

Paige VanZant’s sole professional lose comes to TUF 20 competitor Tecia Torres, a decision loss at Invicta FC 4. VanZant is now an active fighter in the UFC and Torres will likely be as well at the end of the season, so now VanZant is hopeful she’ll be able to avenge that loss in the UFC:

I want to get that loss back; that fight is definitely in the plan, VanZant told MMAjunkie. That was a fluke in my fight game. I went in there not ready. I wasn’t prepared for that fight. Of course, I took a loss and I’ll take that loss and wear it. But I’m very excited to hopefully get a rematch with her and avenge that loss.

The chances of VanZant getting a rematch may rely on the outcome of TUF 20. Torres currently is in the quarterfinal round and is only two victories from earning a chance to compete for the inaugural women’s strawweight title at The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale on Dec. 12.

VanZant has been watching the show closely to scout potential opponents in the future.

I’ve been impressed by a few people, VanZant said. I’d like to fight Tecia again, but I’m going to fight whoever the UFC wants me to fight. They’re in charge of me from now on and I trust them with whatever decisions they make for me.
