Reza Madadi was a good prospect in the lightweight division, having started his career 2-1, however it is now likely he will be released following a conviction on a burglary charge:

Madadi was part of a group convicted of breaking into and stealing merchandise from a high-end handbag store in Stockholm, according to a report by MMAnytt.se.

Madadi’s UFC contract was suspended during the investigation, but if his conviction is upheld, the contract will be terminated.

If he stole a bunch of handbags and is convicted of it, yeah, I’m sure he’s gonna be cut, said UFC president Dana White on Saturday night following UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston.

Update: Today the UFC released a statement announcing that it had official released Madadi following his conviction:

Following his conviction by a court of law in Sweden, the UFC organization has elected to terminate its relationship with Reza Madadi based on its Fighter Code of Conduct and the provision of its promotional agreement concerning fighter conduct.
