UGer siebe41 interviewed bantamweight TUF 15 and Bellator vet Austin Lyons ahead of his fight with Anthony Gutierrez at Titan FC 33. Lyons, 27, is coming off a win over Jonathan Brookins at Legacy Fighting Championship 34 in August.

Consider yourself an mma fan or just a job?
Both. He went on to express that now that the UFC has become so big, and there is a fight night or PPV every week that as a fight fan its overkill, and you don’t get a chance to miss it like you do other sports. He explained that being from South Carolina that once the end of December/January came he couldn’t wait for football season to start back up.
How will your past experience benefit you inside the Titan cage?
He thinks that he has the ability to stay calm. After he watched some of Anthony’s fights, he expressed that in his opinion Anthony tends to get excited and rush into the fight and do too much at once. Then he settles down once the fight goes on. He claims he will be able to stay calm no matter what position the fight goes to. Not freaking out will be the difference maker.
What do you enjoy doing when you aren’t fighting/training?
A self proclaimed frickin loser,” Lyons says me and my wife work so much. Me working odd jobs and training. Wife works her ass off trying to support me and my crazy dream. Happy with a Saturday night of sitting around watching TV.
What is your go to move?
Anything triangle.

Show is crazy, edited to make it look different. He believes Anthony tried and stopped cutting weight to protect himself and not do any long term damage.
Favorite MMA fighter or guy you looked up to?
GSP – But not him or the way he fights in general, rather his approach to fighting. He breaks it down and there is a science to everything…Pays attention to the technical things that can be overlooked in training. Part of that comes with having a good coach in Firas Zahabi.out.
Who do you consider to be the greatest MMA fighter of all time?
Jose Aldo – due to all the PED speculation around many of the others. Claims until he pops he thinks Aldo did it legit.
Aldo v McGregor?
Official Prediction: Aldo over McGregor by 3rd round tko.
Watching the Siver (vs McGregor) fight, when Siver went after him he scored. McGregor is like Machida, when you fall into Machida’s game plan you are screwed, when you fall into McGregor’s game plan you are Irish screwed. Aldo won’t let that happen.
Where will Austin Lyons be in two years?
Wherever is paying me. At the end of the day, wife is trying to go back to school and that will cost money. I just want to do my job and be happy with what I do and get paid for it. Said he doesn’t care if it is UFC, Bellator, or Titan FC, just as long as he gets paid decent.
What can fans expect from Austin come fight night?
Austin said to expect lots of heart, and to see a guy go out and impose his game plan. Says he will work through whatever Anthony throws at him, and that he is a lot tougher than guys Anthony has fought in the past. Feels that Anthony is overlooking him and that the fans are in for an exciting match.
