A whole generation rests on his shoulders tonight. He is the last realistic hope that a fighter from the “golden era” can reach the pinnacle once again.
BJ, shogun, Cro-Cop, Hendo and all the other Pride/UFC legends have either finished or are reaching the end of their legendary careers.
If Vitor loses tonight. A whole generation dies forever from the top of our sport. Their legacy will live on but their relevance will be gone.
Vitor having that belt wrapped around his waist tonight will be the ultimate feel good moment in the sport, for it will be the last time in MMA history that an Old school fighter tastes victory at the championship level.
Let’s go Vitor! Give the old school the fairytale ending it deserves with one last championship!
