Last night the UFC and Strikeforce went head-to-head as both organizations put on an event, but which one stood out above the other? For the UFC it was the highly anticipated The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale, with the headlining fight between finalists Michael Johnson and Jonathan Brookins. As for Strikeforce, the main event was a rematch between MMA veterans Dan Hendo Henderson and Renato Babalu Sobral.

So who delivered the better show? I had the chance to watch both events, and watching solely as a fan of MMA, not a particular fighter/organization, the answer is simple—Strikeforce.

MMA fans watch fighting because they want to see excitement. Excitement is knockouts, and Strikeforce delivered the knockouts last night. Four of the five main card fights ended via KO, with the most impressive—and dare I call it Knockout of the Year—Paul Daley’s dynamite left over Scott Smith.

While watching each fight on Strikeforce I was thinking, ‘damn! There’s no way the next fight can top this’, and it did, each and every time.
