On August 4, LA’s Staples Center, home to the LA Kings, is playing host to UFC on Fox 4: “Shogun vs. Vera.”
The UFC extended a friendly offer to the current Stanley Cup champions:
UFC @ufc
We got a VIP ticket with Lord Stanley’s name on it for #UFConFOX at Staples
The King’s reply lacked class, at best:
LA KIngs @LAKings
Sorry. The cup is only for those who play a real sport.
This was deleted, and replaced with something a little less peculiar:
LA KIngs @LAKings
We may be busy parading our big shiny trophy around the world.
The UFC responded to the first reply:
UFC @ufc
Our checking line > your checking line
Then the entire thing was deleted by both sides.
There is often a perceived rivalry between MMA and boxing, that does not in reality exist. Virtually everyone that trains in MMA appreciates and enjoys boxing.
Hockey is a tough sport, played by tough guys, and likewise enjoys at the very least the respect of MMA fans. Heck, Chuck Liddell recently drank from the Stanley Cup, with some Oompa Loompas. True story.
Anyone who genuinely knows hockey knows how to fight, and it is not by making dork comments on Twitter.
The mind behind the LA Kings Twitter account is probably a Curling devotee.
