In the main event of UFC Vegas 29, fan-favorite and perennial contender Chan Sung Jung (16-6 MMA, 6-3 UFC) takes on dynamic challenger Dan Ige (15-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) in a clash of two featherweight elites.

“The Korean Zombie” enters the fight following a five-round war with Brian Ortega (15-1), who will now challenge Alexander Volkanovski (22-1) for the UFC featherweight championship.

The fourth-ranked contender has won three of his last five fights since returning from a four-year layoff brought about due to injury and his mandatory service in the South Korean military.

The 34-year-old former WEC star and UFC title challenger aims to return to championship contention, but a stiff test awaits in Hawaii’s Ige.

UFC Vegas 29: Six straight victories for Dan Ige

Ige, 29, earned his shot in the UFC after a third-round submission of ex-Titan FC champion Luis Gomez (8-5) in 2017, the year “The Korean Zombie” returned to action in the Octagon. Since, he’s gone 7-2 in the UFC against an increasingly tough slate of opponents.

After dropping his promotional debut to Julio Arce (16-4), “50k” Ige rattled off six straight victories, including decision victories over touted prospect Mirsad Bektic (13-4) and striking sensation Edson Barboza (22-9) in 2020.

A main event loss by decision to Calvin Kattar (22-5) closed out his 2020 campaign. But the 8th-ranked Ige rebounded in his 2021 debut, stopping Canadian upstart Gavin Tucker (13-2) with a vicious right hand just 22 seconds into the first round of their March affair.

Both men believe they have what it takes to capture UFC featherweight gold, but only one will emerge victorious this Saturday night at the UFC APEX Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
