Undefeated Brazilian Charles Oliveira (15-0) out of the Gold Team Fighters camp will soon be in the UFC lightweight division.
Oliveira, who has fought mostly in Brazil during his decorated career, at only 19 years of age, made his professional debut in March 2008 in an eight-man tournament under the Predator Fight Championship banner. Oliveira won three fights that night to obtain the tournament title, and all three wins came via stoppage.
Oliveira has since been able to earn two more tournament victories – a four-man Korea Fight title in December 2008, and a four-man Warriors Challenge bracket this past February as well as Brazilian GP collective championships and the USKBA MMA East Coast Lightweight title.
Oliveira has earned 14 of his 15 victories by stoppage, with his only decision being a unanimous victory.
His only U.S. appearance was in April of 2009 and was a first-round submission victory over Dom Stanco at Ring of Combat 24 to win the USKBA MMA East Coast Lightweight championship.
Though the contract has yet to be finalized, the process appears to be a mere formality at this point, an exact date for the 20-year-old Oliveira’s first UFC fight has not been determined, and an opponent has yet to be named. An announcement is expected shortly regarding Oliveira’s first fight for the UFC.
