The UFC has had it’s share of former Olympic medalists compete inside the Octagon, but until now has never had an Olympic gold medalist.

The UFC has had it’s share of former Olympic medalists compete inside the Octagon, but recently signed it’s first Gold Medalist in the ‘Zuffa-era’:
When Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo pulled out of the headliner of next month’s Legacy FC 34 event, the speculation quickly started up about his future – potentially in the UFC.
As expected, Cejudo (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) now officially is in the fold with the world’s largest promotion, and is set to face Scott Jorgensen (15-9 MMA, 4-5 UFC) next month at UFC 177. UFC officials announced the new bout late Friday.
UFC 177 takes place Aug. 30 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif. The event’s main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
The only other former Olympic Gold Medalist to compete inside the Octagon was Kevin Jackson, who was 2-2 inside the cage in 1997 and 1998.
