Japanese featherweight Tatsuya Kawajiri, 35, has signed with the UFC. Although no match up or debut date has been announced, Kawajiri hopes to debut at the UFC card in Singapore on January 4.
Kawajiri is on a five-fight win streak since losing to Gil Melendez at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley in April of 2011. He has not fought in 2013. Career wins include Gesias Cavalcante, Yves Edwards, Joachim Hansen (twice), and Josh Thomson. However, he has generally come up short when facing top-5 fighters, with losses to Eddie Alvarez, Shinya Aoki, Takanori Gomi, and Melendez (twice).
TheFightNation.com is also reporting that the UFC has signed Jaoanese karate-bsed striker Katsunori Kikuno, 31. Kikuno has reportedly come to terms on contracts, which simply await signing. to contracts and that it is merely a case of completing the paperwork. The Japanese lightweight is on a five-fight win streak.
