Following his sixth straight first-round knockout win in the octagon, Sergei Pavlovich is now the No. 2-ranked contender in the UFC’s heavyweight division.

Pavlovich (18-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) headlined this past weekend’s UFC Fight Night 222 event, knocking out perennial contender Curtis Blaydes (17-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) in the main event, and he was rewarded with a move up one spot in the latest official rankings update, sitting behind only former interim champion Ciryl Gane on the list.

Pavlovich’s move comes at the expense of former champion Stipe Miocic, who slides down one position to No. 3.

Miocic is expected to face current champion Jon Jones this summer, though the bout has not been formally announced.
