While it was a fight that technically took place at light heavyweight, this past weekend’s UFC Fight Night 217 event featured a pair of ranked middleweights in the evening’s headliner.
While Sean Strickland (26-5 MMA, 13-5 UFC) looked impressive – especially given that he stepped in as a late replacement on less than one week’s notice – in a convincing decision win over Nassourdine Imavov (12-4 MMA, 4-2 UFC), neither fighter saw their position in the latest official UFC rankings impacted by the result.
Strickland entered the week at No. 7, while Imavov was No. 12, and in the latest update of the rankings, the two stay exactly in the same position.
