Despite coming up short in his bid for “champ champ” status, Alexander Volkanovski (25-2 MMA, 12-1 UFC) is still the UFC’s featherweight champion, and he’s still the promotion’s No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter, as well.
While Islam Makhachev (24-1 MMA, 13-1 UFC) defended his lightweight title with a hotly contested decision win over Volkanovski at this past weekend’s UFC 284 event, the promotion’s latest rankings update sees the two athletes maintain their position in the pound-for-pound list, with Volkanovski at No. 1 and Makhachev at No. 2.
There were some minor adjustments to the pound-for-pound list in the latest official UFC rankings update, with former light heavyweight champions Jon Jones (26-1 MMA, 20-1 UFC) and Jiri Prochazka trading places. “Bones” moves up one slot to No. 10, while “Denisa” dropped down to No. 11.
Meanwhile, former featherweight champion Max Holloway (23-7 MMA, 19-7 UFC) returned to the list at No. 15, likely bolstered by his history with Volkanovski, bumping former flyweight titleholder Deiveson Figueiredo (21-3-1 MMA, 10-3-1 UFC) off the chart.
