Earlier this year, Fox Sports used the Vision Research Phantom v642 throughout coverage of the National League Championship Series between the Giants and the Cardinals. The v642 captures images at 3,000 frames per second (fps). By contrast, a normal video camera, that shoots at around 30 fps.

UFC on Fox 9 took it to the next level, with a super souped-up high-speed camera – the Phantom v1610 that can capture images at 20,000 fps, some 650 times faster than the video camera you might use.
