UFC fighters are compensated by the league via several means including a contracted amount to show and to win, performance bonuses, informal, intermittent “locker room bonuses” of varying amounts, Reebok money, and for the most elite fighters, a cut of the PPV.

Four $50,000 performance bonuses are given out at each UFC, traditionally one bonus each to the fighters in the Fight of the Night, and then one each to winners in two outstanding fights.

The UFC has not followed the boxing PPV model, with a single huge draw at the top, and faceless boxers in the prelims. The UFC tries to put on a card that is entertaining from the UFC Fight Pass prelims, through to the main event. Sometimes one or even two of the best fights of the night can be on the Fight Pass prelims.

However, at UFC on FOX 21, while the card was terrific from top to bottom, the main card delivered the most. Joe Lauzon delivered a promised Fight of the Night and returned to the #1 spot for bonuses in league history. Paige VanZant got through a tough first round, and in the opening seconds of the second, lande a crazy jumping kick. And Demian Maia showing what the most elite Jiu-Jitsu looks like – seemingly unstoppable.

$50,000 Fight of the Night:
Jim Miller defeated Joe Lauzon by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

$50,000 Performance of the Night:
Paige VanZant defeated Bec Rawlings by TKO (Strikes, Round 2, 0:17)

$50,000 Performance of the Night:
Demian Maia defeated Carlos Condit by Submission (RNC, Round 1, 1:52)
