UFC has started processing MayMac refunds

Countless fans missed the biggest event in combat sports history on Saturday night, as UFC partner Neulion failed to deliver Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather. As the cost was $100, many people invited friends over, making the failure worse. Further, the UFC Fight Pass Twitter account said the issue would be resolved shortly. Only after the main event began did the account recommend using a different app, that cost another $100; no mention was made of a refund. And with countless voices on the social network complaining about outages with their provider, there was no clear sense that the Showtime app would be any better, although it appears to have worked.
Now the UFC reports that they have begun issuing refunds.
We always try to put on the biggest and most exciting fights,” read a statement, purportedly from UFC president Dana White. “We want our fans to have the best experience when watching our events. Unfortunately, we didn’t deliver the way we wanted on Saturday because of NeuLion’s technical issues on UFC.tv. As usual, we always take care of our fans and we will fix this. We have started processing refunds immediately for anyone who could not access the fight after purchase.
The statement is wanting. There is no apology, and one is deserved – the biggest event in combat sports history was ruined.
This didn’t take care of the fans and fix what happened. It’s not magnanimous to issue a refund; it’s simply meeting the very least of responsibilities. As is apologizing. And the problem was not “because of NeuLion’s technical issues on UFC.tv.” The problem was selecting NeuLion. Ask anyone in the business what they think of the company.
Further, it doesn’t note how you get the refund. Is it happening automatically? Or do you have to let them know? If so, how?
White has a unique connection with the fans; the statement should have come from him, on his social network, in his own words, expressing regret. That would go a way towards ruining the biggest night in combat sports history for countless of the most dedicated fans; giving money back for something you failed to deliver doesn’t.
