Four $50,000 bonuses awarded at UFC on FOX 20
UFC Vice President of Public Relations & Athlete Marketing Dave Sholler announced the winner of the $50,000 Performance Bonuses at UFC on FOX 20 held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The winners this event went to the standard Fight of the Night and to two outstanding performances.
$50,000 (each) for Fight of the Night Bonus:
Jason Knight defeated Jim Alers by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
$50,000 Performance of the Night:
Felice Herrig defeated Kailin Curran by Submission (Rear-naked choke, Round 1, 1:59
Performance of the Night:
Eddie Wineland defeated Frankie Saenz by TKO (Punches, Round 3, 1:54)
The nature of the sport is that you cannot predict with certainty what fights will end up being the best. In this case, the fight of the night was only the third fight on the card, a spot generally reserved for figures not yet or no longer in their prime. The two performance bonus winners each had taken a year or more off, but obviously showed no signs of cage rust. Indeed, they appeared reborn.
One thing would have made it perfect. Cameroon’s Francis Ngannou was born in poverty, moved to France for opportunity, but was homeless. Then he discovered MMA, and his fortunes turned. He is using all his extra funds to build an academy in Cameroon. If would be blessed if the UFC aided in that venture; or perhaps they already are.

UFC on Fox 20 drew 10,287 spectators for a live gate of $1 million. That put it at fourth of the five events held at Chicago’s United Center, but all were fairly close:
UFC on Fox 2: 17,245, $1,270,960 gate
UFC on Fox 6: 16,091, $1,270,000 gate
UFC on Fox 16: 11,663, $1,200,000 gate
UFC on Fox 20: 10,287, $1,000,000 gate
UFC on Fox 10: 10,895, $863,655 gate
The live gate was solid good considering that it lost the Anthony Johnson vs. Glover Teixeira co-main event.
