UFC Fight Pass acquires massive new libraries of fights
UFC Fight Pass will add a number of fight libraries, including Cage Rage, Extreme Challenge, XFO, UCMMA, HOOKnSHOOT, TKO, KOTC, and Pancrase.
Marshall Zelaznik, the UFC’s managing director of international development, just announced the acquisition of a number of fight libraries, for viewing on UFC Fight Pass.
The events added will be Cage Rage, Extreme Challenge, XFO, UCMMA, HOOKnSHOOT, TKO, King of the Cage, and Pancrase. These will be in addition to the current library, which includes PRIDE FC, Strikeforce, WEC, World Fighting Alliance, Invicta FC, and of course the UFC.
Fights will start to appear in the Spring, starting with the most important bouts in each promotion’s history. Teams are now flying for example to UK and Japan to ingest and create metadata for the events. Zelaznik made a point to note that the promotions have done an excellent job in preserving their libraries.
Cage Rage: 263 fights, with stars including Anderson Silva, Vitor Belfort.
Extreme Challenge: 231 events, 1,000 fights, with stars Dan Severn Mat Hughes, Pat Mlietich.
XFO: 100 bouts, 1500 fights, with stars including Felice Herrig, Chael Sonnen.
UCMMA: 43 events, 400 bouts with stars including Jimi Manuwa, Brad Pickett.
HOOKnShoot: 75 events, 500 bouts, with stars including Miesha Tate, Jens Pulver. and just about everyone.
TKO: 35 events, 300 fights, with stars including GSP, Sam Stout.
KOTC: 400 events, 2000 fights, with stars including Dan Severn, Daniel Cormier, Ronda Rousey.
Pancrase: 250 events, 2500 fights, with stars including Ken Shamrock, Bas Rutten, Jose Aldo.
The current UFC Fight Pass offers approximate 5,000 fights. These new acquisitions will push it to 12,000-13,000.
At some point in the future, there will the live streaming of some of these events that are ongoing.
There will be no increase in cost. And … there are reportedly more acquisitions to come!
