LAS VEGAS – MMA Underground was on scene and reporting live from Friday’s official UFC Fight Night 214 fighter weigh-ins, where there were quite a few issues with athletes on the scale.
The weigh-ins took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The same venue hosts Saturday’s card, which streams on ESPN+.
Among those weighing in were the night’s headliners, No. 3-ranked strawweight Marina Rodriguez (16-1-2 MMA, 6-1-2 UFC) and No. 7-ranked Amanda Lemos (12-2-1 MMA, 6-2 UFC). Each made weight without issue. The same could not be said for a handful of other fighters.
Shanna Young (8-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has the most interesting weigh-in experience, initially hitting the scales at 127 pounds. She was given one additional hour to hit the mark but came in with 10 minutes left and was still at 126.25 pounds. However, she elected to cut her hair before stepping on the scale for a third time and weighing 126 pounds to make her bout with Miranda Maverick (10-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) official.

Four other fighters did miss weight, though the 12-bout lineup remains complete. Details of the other misses can be found below.
