It is widely regarded that the most important fight in mixed martial arts history was The Ultimate Fighter 1 finals, between Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar, on 9 April 2005. Griffin took the unanimous decision, but the performance by both fighters was so extraordinary that the future of the sport – the UFC’s last-ditch, double-down bet – was assured.

The reality television series ended up being one of the longest lasting in the genre. Season 25 is currently casting, with filming expected to start in January and a debut in April on FOX Sports 1. MMAjunkie reports that the season will likely be at welterweight, with an “all star” cast of UFC vets and former TUF contestants.

However, TUF ratings are down, and the UFC is under new ownership. The league is currently casting for a new series. It will broadcast on POP TV, and will feature women competing to become an Octagon girl:

The producers of The Ultimate Fighter are seeking models from Southern California for an opportunity to become the UFC’s newest ring girls (aka Octagon Girls) and appear in a presentation for their own unscripted series on a major cable network.

On this brand new show, each of our selected models will join the ranks of the prestigious Octagon Girls and travel to UFC events throughout the world. The series will document their work with the UFC, as well as their lives on the road and back home in Southern California.

You can apply here. Actually, you are reading this on The UnderGround, so you can’t.

The requirements are below. However, to begin with, to be an Octagon girl, you have to be a female, and there are no females on the UG.

Other requirements are equally problematic:

•Are at least 21 years of age and live in Southern California
It is implicit that this requirement continues with “… and don’t live in your mom’s basement.”

•Have never appeared in pornographic material
Not sure if dick pics count, but they weren’t impressed on CraigsList anyway.

•Have a fit and athletic body type
Hahahahahahha
