JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – MMA Underground was on scene and reporting live from Friday’s official UFC 273 fighter weigh-ins, where two preliminary fighters failed to make weight.

The early weigh-ins took place at the UFC host hotel and precede the ceremonial weigh-ins for the fans, which take place at 4 p.m. ET at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. The same venue hosts Saturday’s event, which has a main card on ESPN+ pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.

Among those weighing in were reigning featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski (23-1 MMA, 10-0 UFC), who is facing perennial contender “The Korean Zombie,” Chan Sung Jung (17-6 MMA, 7-3 UFC), as well as a heated rematch and title unifier between reigning bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling (20-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) and interim titleholder Petr Yan (16-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC).

All four made weight without issue.

However, there were two issues from fighters on the earlier portion of the card, with Kay Hansen (7-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) registering 118.5 pounds for her strawweight fight with Piera Rodriguez (7-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), and Julio Arce (17-5 MMA, 4-3 UFC) at 136.5 pounds for his bantamweight matchup with Daniel Santos (10-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC). Both fighters were fined 20 percent of their purses, but the bouts will go on as scheduled.
