The simple fact is that the dominant stakeholders in MMA are all for-profit companies, with a responsibility to investors to maximize revenue. Other mainstream sports are governed by non-profits. Selling more jerseys doesn’t get you into the superbowl playoffs, but in combat sports, for better and for worse, it does.
