UFC 207 weigh-ins replay: Two fighters fail

The UFC 207 official weigh-ins took place on Thursday at Noon ET (9:00 a.m. local time) at the MGM Grand Conference Center. The ceremonial weigh-ins and faceoff took place later on Thursday, at 6:00 p.m. ET (3:00 a.m. local time). Both streamed live on The UnderGround below, courtesy of the UFC.

Fighters used to weigh-in in the early evening. Unfortunately, the body does not always rehydrate within 24 hours, leaving the brain more susceptible to injury. Many fighters took IVs in an attempt to rehydrate sufficiently. However, when the UFC selected the US Anti-Doping Agency as their independent drug testing body, the use of IVs was prohibited, as it can mask the presence of PEDs. In response, the UFC has instituted a new, safer procedure, wherein fighters are given a two-hour window in which to weigh in, on the morning of the day before the fight.

Rumors have circulated that Rousey’s media blackout would extend to the public weigh ins, but that is incorrect.

Here is the controversial faceoff from UFC 205. There was not supposed to be an interview, but a director mistakenly told color commentator Joe Rogan to ask Nunes a question. When he did so, Rousey walked off as planned, but it appeared as if she was walking away from an interview, which was not the case. Fans, unaware of the facts, booed loudly.
