UFC 206 was supposed to be headlined by the return of GSP, at last. Then it was supposed to be headlined by a light heavyweight title defense between champion Daniel Cormier and fearsome challenger Anthony Johnson. It ended up with Max Hollaway vs. Anthony Pettis for an interim title that felt a little contrived. And then Pettis missed weight.

It came after UFC 205, the biggest card in league history. And it came before UFC 207, headlined by the return of Ronda Rousey, and co-headlined by Dominick Cruz vs. the 10-0 Cody Garbrandt. UFC 206 didn’t look like much, on paper.

It ended up being one of the greatest cards in memory, with two Knockout of the Year candidates, a Fight of the Year, and a new interim champion in Max Holloway. And now the UFC is putting these best four fights on free tv in a special two-hour version on Saturday, December 24 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on big FOX.

The two-hour special will include:
Knockout of the Year candidate: John Makdessivs. Lando Vannata
Fight of the Year candidate: Cub Swansonvs. Doo Ho Choi
Highlight reel knockout: Donald Cowboy Cerrone vs. Matt Brown
Interim featherweight championship fight: Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis

The release described it as “a Christmas Eve gift from President Dana White.”

Ho ho ho.
