UFC 205 Free Bet & Late Prop Bets To Consider
Khabib Nurmagomedov (-320) vs. Michael Johnson (+240)
Bet: Over 2.5 rounds (-145)
Analysis: Khabib Nurmagomedov (for time’s sake, I’ll refer to him as Khabib for the rest of this article) takes on the explosive Michael Johnson at UFC 205 Saturday night. Khabib has only fought once in the past two and a half years, and he hasn’t fought in 210 days, so he knows the meaning of inactivity. Michael Johnson is coming off an incredible KO victory over Dustin Poirier where he was a +150 underdog.
This is a battle of power versus power, but each fighter defines their power in their own way. Khabib has some of the most explosive takedowns in all of MMA, and is arguably the best wrestler in MMA right now, but many have been questioning if he can still wear this crown with one fight in 2.5 years. Michael Johnson’s power comes in the form of his hands. His speed and explosiveness in his hands has elevated him to a contender in the lightweight division as of recent, but as they say, styles make fights, and this one tells me that we will see Khabib impose his will, and have his way with MJ on the ground.
Johnson is well-versed on the ground, and will be able to defend Khabib’s submission attempts, while Khabib will have his way with getting MJ to the canvas. You’ll see this repeat over and over throughout the fight, so it may be a good opportunity to grab another cold one, go outside for a butt break, or throw a pizza in the oven.
When looking over the card and the myriad of straight and prop bets, one that sticks out to me the most, and has me reaching for my wallet is if this fight will go over 2.5 rounds or not. My money says this will go to a decision with Khabib having his hand raised at the end of the night. The odds on this are still favorable at -145, meaning that you need to bet $145 to win $100. This is probably the best bet on the card for the odds that it presents. I think this should be more in the neighborhood of -225, so we are getting a good amount of value on this bet. Take it before it increases!
If my write-up isn’t enough to convince you to reach for your wallet, consider this: in Khabib’s last 4 fights, 3 of them have gone to a decision (3 wins), and in Johnson’s last 5 fights, 4 of them have gone to a decision (2 wins, 2 loses). So out of these two fighter’s last 9 fights, 7 of them have gone to a decision. This bodes well for this fight to progress beyond 2.5 rounds. Do yourself a favor, and make sure you take your winnings from this bet, and put it into your children’s college savings plan, and tell them that it came from Uncle Jonny! You’re welcome. Until next time… enjoy the fights!
