UFC 199 featured a main event of Luke Rockhold defending his middleweight title against Michael Bisping. Despite taking the fight on short notice and being an underdog, Bisping knocked out Rockhold in the first round to become the UFC middleweight champion.

In the co-feature, Dominick Cruz successfully defended his UFC bantamweight title against longtime rival Urijah Faber, winning a five round decision.
