UFC 168 which featured the rematch between Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva was the second highest gate in the United States ever in terms of revenue.
We’re so sold out on this fight, it’s insane, said White following the UFC 168 pre-fight press conference at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. There are some singles left out there.
The year-end fight card features two title fights, and is already the second largest gate in the promotion’s history in the United States. Women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey faces Miesha Tate in a rematch in the card’s co-main event.
I think we’re at $6.3 million right now, said White.
The story above was published prior to fight day and was an estimation by UFC President Dana White. The Nevada State Athletic Commission e-mailed the actual figures this week, backing up the claim. The NSAC report a live gate of $6,238,792.50 with 14,574 tickets sold, 1,076 comped, and no unsold ticket.
That number puts UFC 168 second on the all-time list of gate revenue in the United States, only behind UFC 148 which featured the rematch of Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.
