The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s long-awaited return to Michigan proved a successful one. Saturday’s UFC 123 event, which took place at The Palace of Auburn Hills in suburban Detroit, scored 16,404 attendees and a 2.1 million gate.
The arena was nearly at capacity by the time the night’s untelevised preliminary card began. By the time the Spike TV “UFC Prelims” special and pay-per-view main card kicked off, the arena was full.
White said he is pleased with the turnout for the event and that the organization “definitely” will make a return to Detroit. However, no exact timetable has been set.
