Twitter reacts to Kimbo vs. Shamrock
Twitter reacts as a fight made in 2008 and cancelled the day of the event has been reborn, and will headline an Bellator on June 20 in St. Louis, MO.
EliteXC was helmed by boxing promoter Gary Shaw, with assistance from his son Skala. The parent company bought up an array of successful promotions, and then everyone drove everything off a cliff.
UFC president Dana White summed up their management as “36,000,000 million dollar losing retards.”
EliteXC promoted eight events and co-promoted three more. On October 4, 2008 they held EliteXC: Heat, broadcast on CBS. Heat was headlined by Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock. They had Cris Cyborg on the undercard, Ninja Rua, Gina Carano, Jake Shields, Andrei Arlovksi vs. Roy Nelson, and more. Kimbo’s salary was $500,000. So was Arloski’s.
Shamrock was mysteriously hurt the day of the event. Then Ken’s brother, announcer and legendary fighter Frank Shamrock offered to step in vs. Kimbo. Eventually light heavyweight Seth Petruzelli was chosen. Petruzelli knocked out Kimbo in 14 seconds with a jab, Skala screamed, and EliteXC never held another show.
Bellator has of course signed a bout between Ken Shamrock and Kimbo Slice to headline an event on June 20 in St. Louis, MO. As it always does when these things happen in mixed martial arts, Twitter reacted.

Some stats: Kimbo is 41 and 1-2 in his last 3 MMA bouts. Ken Shamrock is 51, 2-7 in his last 9. Both guys haven’t fought since 2010.
