Twitter reacts to Jason Knight bite at Fight Night 123

You learn at 18 months old not to bite, but at UFC Fight Night 123, featherweight Jason Knight had a point deducted for biting Gabriel Benitez.

UFC 1 had only three rules – no eye gouging, no fishhooking, and no biting. There are now many dozens of rules governing the sport, but the bedrock remains. You learn at 18 months not to bite, but at UFC Fight Night 123, featherweight Jason Knight had a point deducted for biting Gabriel Benitez.

In Round 1 Benitez complained loudly about a pain in his hand. Referee Mark Smith brought in a cageside physician to look at the hand, and then deducted a point for ‘Mississippi Mean’.

Despite the bitten finger and an eye poke, it was Benitez who proved to be the sharper fighter Saturday night vs. Knight, taking a Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-26, 29-27).
