No one has been more screwed over by Performance Enhancing Drugs in mixed martial arts than Michael Bisping.
“The Count debuted on TUF in Feb of 2006. In the eight years since, he has fought 23 times. In the past seven years, he has lost only to Dan Henderson, Wanderlei Silva, Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort, and Tim Kennedy. Of those, only Kennedy has not been caught using illegal PEDs or received a now disgraced Therapeutic Use Exemption for Testosterone Replacement Therapy. Kennedy, like Bisping, has been a vocal advocate of clean fighting.
His latest opponent, Cung Le, tested positive for HGH at UFC Fight Night Macau, and has been suspended for nine months. Mercifully, Le lost the fight. If it was Bisping who looked like this at the hands of a drug fueled fighter, then someone should go to jail.
For once Bisping got the better of a drug user, which is a small justice, but there is a deep and growing frustration with drug use in the sport, and it spilled out on Twitter.
