No. 5 Aisling Daly vs. No. 12 Angela Magana
Round 1 – Daly opens with overhand right and initiates the clinch. The fighters reverse positions against the cage multiple times, and Magana winds up scoring a takedown. Magana lands in half guard then briefly secures the crucifix and then lands strikes. Daly escapes the crucifix, but Magana takes her back. She sinks in her hooks and works for a rear-naked choke. Daly defends well, and Magana peppers her with strikes as she fights for the submission. Daly stands up, and Magana is high on her back. Magana attempts to hold the position, but after two warnings for inactivity, the referee stands up the fighters. Daly lands a body kick, and Magana answers with a combination. They exchange blows, and Daly clasps a body clinch. Daly fails on a takedown attempt, and Magana gains control against the cage. Daly breaks free and takes the center of the cage. She lands multiple strikes, and Magana ducks under for an unsuccessful takedown right before the round comes to an end.
Round 2 – The fighters meet in the center of the cage again, and a wild flurry ensues. Magana attempts another takedown that is stuffed. Daly is the more comfortable fighter while standing, and she’s throwing far more strikes. Magana closes the distances and clinches again. Magana fails on a takedown attempt but gains control against the cage. Daly reverses and lands a takedown of her own. She briefly takes the back in the scramble and then secures top position on Magana. Daly works for an armbar, but Magana scrambles back to her feet. Daly keeps control of the clinch and drags Magana to the mat for the second time in the round. Daly throws strikes from top position as Magana looks to scramble to her feet. Daly takes the back and locks in a rear-naked choke, but the round ends before she can force Magana to tap out.
The three Nevada State Athletic Commission-appointed judges declare the contest a draw, and a sudden-victory round will decide the winner of the fight.
Round 3 – Another wild exchange opens the round, but once again, Magana pursues the clinch. Daly overpowers her and takes the fight to the ground, where she instantly moves to back control. Daly flattens Magana’s hips and throws punches as she searches for the submission. Magana rolls over into mount, but her arm is trapped around her own neck. She can only defend with one hand, and Daly throws a series of clean strikes en route to the referee stoppage.
