TUF 20, Episode 3 fight recap

The third episode of the twentieth season of the Ultimate Fighter aired tonight at 10:00 PM on FOX Sports 1 and featured Jessica Penne vs. Lisa Ellis.

No. 4 Jessica Penne vs. No. 13 Lisa Ellis

Round 1 – The first 25 seconds consists of a feeling-out process. Both fighters pump the jab. Penne scores with the first bit of offense as she lands a combination of straight punches. Penne lands another jab. Ellis shoots for a takedown in the middle of the cage and briefly gets the fight to the ground. Penne quickly stands up and reverses Ellis against the fence. Penne throws knees to the body and head from the clinch. She attempts a trip that is nearly reversed by Ellis, but Penne ends up on top in half guard. Ellis waits for an opening and reverses the position to land in guard. Penne attempts a triangle choke and uses the submission attempt to transition into mount. Ellis gives up her back, and Penne is in a dominant position. Penne throws punches from the top and receives two warnings for punches to the back of the head. She abandons the punches and works for a rear-naked choke. Penne slides the forearm under the neck, secures the choke, and Ellis taps out.
