Once providing a flood of talent with each season, the long-running Spike TV series “The Ultimate Fighter has seen just a trickle in recent years. That could change with the upcoming 14th season.

“You guys have heard me say when I think a season is going to be a great season,” UFC President Dana White told MMAjunkie.com over the weekend. “This is a great season, great season. Never in the history of the show have we done a two-hour first episode. That’s how good these fights are. You guys know me and the way that I think and how I am. You think I would ever put on a two-hour fights to get into the house if the fights weren’t amazing? This season is awesome.”

“What happens is, when you do a first season like this, and you look at the 35s and 45s, they’ve never been in the UFC, and there’s never been an ‘Ultimate Fighter’ done on them.

“So we’ve got the best of the best for this first season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter.’ I’m excited about it.”

“TUF 14” debuts Sept. 21. The show, which features Michael Bisping and Jason “Mayhem” Miller as coaches, features 32 fighters (16 bantamweights and 16 featherweights). Half of the cast will be axed following an elimination round of fights, during the two-hour season premiere.
